Jazz has become the first mobile operator in Pakistan to reach 1,000 live 5G sites, marking a major expansion in the country’s next generation mobile connectivity infrastructure. The company said the milestone represents the fastest 5G rollout in Pakistan and gives Jazz the country’s largest 5G network footprint. Jazz has also set a target of expanding its 5G network to 2,500 sites by the end of 2026.
The latest milestone follows Jazz’s initial 5G launch across nearly 180 sites in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan and Faisalabad. Since the initial deployment, the operator has expanded its 5G network across these markets and extended coverage to Sialkot and Gujranwala. This has taken Jazz’s 5G presence to a total of 10 cities across Pakistan.
Kazim Mujtaba, President of Jazz GSM, said the achievement reflects the company’s efforts to expand access to 5G services across the country. He said Jazz intends to continue scaling the network towards its target of 2,500 sites by the end of the year, with an emphasis on improving digital experiences through increased network capacity, higher speeds and more reliable connectivity.
According to Mujtaba, the broader 5G deployment is also intended to support new services and use cases as adoption of the technology increases. The company’s expansion strategy therefore focuses not only on increasing the number of sites but also on improving the network capabilities required to support growing demand for high speed mobile connectivity.
Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer of JazzWorld, said deploying 5G at this scale requires network infrastructure capable of addressing different connectivity requirements across Pakistan. He said Jazz is combining its multi band spectrum holdings with advanced radio technologies and modernised infrastructure to provide wider coverage and greater capacity.
Jazz’s 5G network expansion is supported by spectrum acquired during Pakistan’s 2026 auction. The operator secured an additional 190 megahertz of spectrum across four frequency bands, including 700 megahertz, 2300 megahertz, 2600 megahertz and 3500 megahertz. Following the acquisition, Jazz’s total spectrum holdings increased to 284.4 megahertz.
The availability of spectrum across multiple frequency bands is a key component of Jazz’s network expansion strategy. The company said its spectrum position is supporting the development of a diverse 5G network capable of addressing different coverage and capacity requirements. The combination of additional spectrum, radio technology and upgraded infrastructure is being used to expand the network across existing and new markets.
The 1,000 site milestone also follows Jazz’s investment commitment announced after the 2026 spectrum auction. The company committed $1 billion to accelerate 5G deployment and strengthen its telecommunications infrastructure across Pakistan.
Jazz said the latest commitment brings its total investment in Pakistan to $12 billion to date. The investment reflects the company’s stated long term focus on expanding the country’s digital infrastructure and connectivity ecosystem.
With the network now reaching 1,000 live 5G sites across 10 cities, Jazz is targeting another significant increase before the end of 2026. The planned expansion to 2,500 sites would more than double the current number of live 5G locations and further extend the availability of 5G connectivity in Pakistan.
The rollout comes as Pakistan’s telecommunications sector moves towards wider deployment of 5G services following the 2026 spectrum auction. For Jazz, the expansion combines additional spectrum resources with investment in network infrastructure and modern radio technologies as the operator seeks to increase coverage, capacity and service reliability.
Jazz’s latest deployment therefore places the operator at the forefront of Pakistan’s ongoing 5G expansion, with its 1,000 live site milestone marking the current scale of its network. The company’s next target of 2,500 sites by the end of 2026 will determine the pace of its continued expansion across the country’s major connectivity markets.
