The ICMA KSA Branch Council, in collaboration with the National Continuing Professional Development Committee, has announced an upcoming webinar focused on the development of strategic treasury functions. Titled “Beyond Cash: Building a Strategic Treasury Function,” the online session will examine the broader role of treasury operations beyond traditional cash management.
The webinar is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, and will be conducted online through Zoom. The session will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saudi Arabia time, corresponding to 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Pakistan time. The programme is aimed at professionals interested in treasury management, financial operations and the strategic role of treasury functions within organisations.
Sajjad H. Bawa, Director Group Treasury at Mohamed Yousuf Naghi and Brothers Group, will serve as the speaker for the session. With his position in group treasury, Bawa will share insights around the development of treasury functions and the ways organisations can move beyond basic cash management toward a more strategic approach to managing financial resources.
The session will be hosted by Zia Mustafa, FCMA, a member of the KSA Branch Council. Mustafa will lead the webinar and facilitate the discussion with the speaker. The involvement of the KSA Branch Council and National Continuing Professional Development Committee highlights the focus on professional learning and knowledge sharing among finance and accounting professionals.
The theme of the webinar reflects the changing responsibilities of treasury teams within modern organisations. Treasury functions are increasingly involved in areas such as liquidity management, financial planning, risk management and supporting wider business decisions. Moving beyond day-to-day cash management can allow treasury teams to play a more active role in an organisation’s financial strategy.
The webinar provides an opportunity for participants to learn from an experienced treasury professional while engaging with a topic relevant to corporate finance and financial management. The online format also allows professionals in Pakistan and other locations to participate without travelling to a physical venue. Registration for the webinar is available through the registration link shared by ICMA KSA. Participants interested in the session can register ahead of the September 19 event and attend through Zoom during the scheduled two-hour programme.
