MENA Fintech Association Establishes Pakistan Chapter, Extending Its 22-Market Network

The MENA Fintech Association (MFTA), headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, has formally established its Pakistan Chapter. The expansion extends MFTA’s network to Pakistan, connecting its financial institutions, fintech companies, regulators and policymakers to chapters already operating across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt and Africa.

The World Bank’s formal inclusion of Pakistan within the MENA region provides an important institutional context for this expansion, reinforcing the strategic and economic alignment between Pakistan and the broader Middle Eastern financial landscape. MFTA’s network spans 22 markets, with engagement across central banks, regulators, financial institutions and 50,000+ members. The Pakistan Chapter becomes part of that architecture.

Pakistan’s financial sector brings a relevant and distinctive profile to the network. The country has developed significant activity in digital assets alongside a well established traditional banking infrastructure. As financial institutions and regulators across the region continue to develop frameworks that integrate these two areas, Pakistan’s presence within the MFTA network opens new channels for cross-border dialogue, regulatory exchange and institutional collaboration.

The Chapter will bring together policymakers, regulatory authorities, financial institutions, fintech companies and investors to foster structured dialogue and build partnerships that support the development and internationalisation of Pakistan’s financial services industry.

Nameer Khan, Chairman of the MENA Fintech Association, said:

“Pakistan represents a significant and timely expansion of the MFTA network. The World Bank’s inclusion of Pakistan in the MENA region reflects a broader realignment that is already visible in trade flows, financial connectivity and institutional engagement. Pakistan has a large and evolving financial services sector, meaningful digital asset activity, and a policy environment that is actively engaging with the direction of regional and global finance. Our role is to connect that to the wider network — to the regulators, institutions, investors and innovators across the 22 markets we operate in. That is what MFTA does, and Pakistan is a natural part of that expansion.”

Imran Khan, Co Chair of the MFTA Pakistan Chapter, said:

“Pakistan’s financial ecosystem has much to contribute to regional development and innovation. The Chapter will provide a platform for closer engagement between the private sector, policymakers and public institutions, enabling stakeholders to share expertise, explore shared priorities and build relationships that support the growth of Pakistan’s financial services industry.”

Mubariz Siddiqui, Co Chair of the MFTA Pakistan Chapter, said:

“Meaningful progress in financial services requires sustained, constructive engagement between those shaping policy and those driving innovation. Through the Pakistan Chapter, we aim to deepen those connections, facilitate collaboration with regional counterparts and create pathways for Pakistan’s financial institutions and fintech companies to participate more actively in the wider regional ecosystem.”

The Chapter was formally established at a private reception held on 28 October 2026 at Cote Rotie in Karachi, convened in the presence of senior representatives from Pakistan’s leading financial institutions, regulatory authorities and policy community. Consistent with its approach across other markets, MFTA envisions establishing further chapters across Pakistan to broaden and deepen its engagement with stakeholders throughout the country.
