NIBAF Pakistan to Hold Audit Excellence Workshop in Karachi on November 27, 2026

NIBAF Pakistan has announced a specialised executive workshop titled “Achieving Audit Excellence with Agile and Risk-Based Techniques,” scheduled to take place at its Karachi Campus on November 27, 2026. The full-day training programme will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and is designed for professionals involved in internal auditing, risk management, compliance and banking operations. The workshop will focus on audit approaches that help organisations assess risks, strengthen internal controls and improve the effectiveness of audit activities. The training investment is set at Rs18,000 plus applicable tax per participant, with nominations closing on November 26, 2026. Through the programme, NIBAF Pakistan aims to provide relevant professionals with an opportunity to develop their understanding of audit practices and risk-based approaches used in organisational oversight.

The workshop is intended for internal auditors, audit managers and heads of internal audit, as well as risk management professionals and compliance officers. Branch managers involved in operational risk or audit coordination and members of audit committees are also among the intended participants. These roles are closely connected to the identification of operational weaknesses, evaluation of controls and monitoring of compliance with organisational policies. A risk-based approach can help audit teams prioritise areas according to their potential exposure and importance, while agile techniques can support a more responsive audit process as business activities and risks change. The programme is positioned to address the needs of professionals seeking to strengthen audit planning, risk assessment and the practical application of internal audit methodologies.

The session will be facilitated by Aamir Shaukat Hussain, a Chartered Accountant and specialist in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and internal audit. According to the programme announcement, Hussain received chartered accountancy training at A.F. Ferguson & Co. and has more than 15 years of domestic and international banking experience across United Bank Limited, Habib Bank Limited and consulting firms. His professional background includes work and expertise in governance, risk management, compliance and internal audit, areas that are central to the workshop’s subject matter. He is also a certified trainer and public speaker who has trained more than 200 professionals.

Hussain’s stated areas of specialisation include internal audit methodologies, anti-money laundering (AML), enterprise risk management, governance and compliance, and leadership skills. These areas are relevant to financial institutions and other organisations that must maintain effective oversight while responding to changing operational and regulatory requirements. Internal audit functions are expected to evaluate whether controls are working as intended, identify weaknesses and provide management with information that supports better decision-making. Risk management and compliance teams also play an important role in assessing exposures and ensuring that organisational practices remain aligned with applicable requirements. The workshop’s focus on agile and risk-based techniques brings these functions together around the objective of improving audit effectiveness.

For banking professionals, audit quality is closely linked to the ability to identify risks before they develop into larger operational or compliance issues. Risk-based auditing helps teams direct attention towards activities and controls that may require closer examination, rather than applying the same level of scrutiny to every area. Agile techniques can complement this approach by supporting adjustments to audit priorities as new information emerges. The workshop is expected to address these themes within a professional training setting, although the announcement does not provide a detailed session-by-session agenda or a list of specific exercises. Participants interested in the programme can contact NIBAF Pakistan through the registration channels provided to confirm further details about the training content and nomination process.

The training investment has been set at Rs18,000 per participant, excluding applicable tax. Nominations must be submitted by November 26, one day before the scheduled workshop. Professionals and organisations considering participation will need to complete their registration arrangements within this timeframe. The event will be held at NIBAF Pakistan’s Karachi Campus, with the session running from morning until late afternoon. The one-day format provides a dedicated training opportunity for professionals who want to focus on audit and risk management practices without committing to a longer programme.

For nominations and registration, interested participants can contact NIBAF Pakistan at registration@nibaf.gov.pk or marketing@nibaf.org.pk. Further information is also available by telephone at 021-35277511 and 051-9269850, or through WhatsApp at 0303-0652963. The workshop announcement provides banking, audit and compliance professionals with an opportunity to explore the use of agile and risk-based methods in internal audit. With the nomination deadline set for November 26, interested candidates are encouraged to contact the institute directly for registration requirements, applicable taxes and any additional programme information.
