NIBAF Pakistan to Hold Responsible AI and Model Risk Management Workshop for Banks

NIBAF Pakistan has announced a specialized executive workshop focused on responsible artificial intelligence (AI), AI governance and model risk management for banks. The one-day training session is scheduled for November 5, 2026, at the institution’s Karachi Campus. The programme is designed to address the growing importance of managing artificial intelligence responsibly within financial institutions, where technology-driven decisions increasingly influence banking operations, customer services, risk assessment and regulatory compliance. As banks explore the use of AI in their services and internal processes, governance frameworks and appropriate risk controls are becoming important considerations for maintaining transparency, accountability and operational reliability.

The workshop will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will be facilitated by Sajid Majeed, an AI and Financial Analytics Trainer. His areas of specialization include financial analytics, artificial intelligence, agentic AI, large language models, application programming interfaces and Python-driven data analytics. The programme will connect technical AI capabilities with the regulatory and operational requirements faced by financial institutions. Its focus on responsible AI and model risk management is particularly relevant to banks that use or are evaluating automated systems for financial analysis, decision support, customer interaction and other business functions.

AI governance has become an important area for financial institutions as they assess how automated systems are developed, deployed and monitored. Banks need to consider whether AI-driven outputs are reliable, whether decisions can be explained, how sensitive information is protected and who remains accountable when a system produces an incorrect or inappropriate result. Model risk management also involves identifying weaknesses in the assumptions, data, design and performance of models used in financial activities. Appropriate validation, ongoing monitoring, documentation and internal oversight can help institutions identify potential problems before they affect customers or business operations. The workshop will address the relationship between these technical considerations and the compliance responsibilities associated with operating in a regulated financial environment.

The programme also covers areas such as large language models, agentic AI and application programming interfaces, technologies that can support increasingly sophisticated digital banking processes. Their use can introduce additional considerations involving data quality, access controls, security, reliability and human supervision. For financial institutions, establishing clear policies around the development and use of these technologies can help ensure that innovation is accompanied by appropriate safeguards. Training that brings together technical knowledge and regulatory understanding can help banking professionals assess AI applications more systematically and develop practical approaches to governance and operational transparency.

NIBAF Pakistan has set the training investment at PKR 18,000 per participant, plus applicable tax. The last date for nominations is November 4, 2026, one day before the workshop. Interested institutions and professionals can submit nominations and registration inquiries through registration@nibaf.gov.pk or marketing@nibaf.org.pk. Further information is available by calling 021-35277511 or 051-9269850, while WhatsApp inquiries can be directed to 0303-0652963. Through this specialized executive programme, NIBAF Pakistan is offering banking professionals an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of AI governance, model risk controls and the practical considerations involved in adopting artificial intelligence within financial services.
