ZTBL Onboards TPS Pakistan for Mobile and Internet Banking Services

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has successfully onboarded TPS Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited to provide mobile banking and internet banking applications, marking another step in the bank’s efforts to expand its digital banking capabilities. The onboarding was completed through an open competitive procurement process under the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) framework, with the collaboration expected to support the delivery of technology-driven banking services to ZTBL customers.

ZTBL highlighted the importance of competitive procurement in selecting service providers for institutional projects. The bank said that open competitive procurement under the PPRA framework is not simply a compliance requirement, but also a mechanism for achieving value for money, transparency and efficiency while ensuring that capable and competent service providers are selected. The approach places the procurement process within a broader framework of accountability and effective use of institutional resources.

The onboarding ceremony was held on October 7, 2026, at ZTBL’s Head Office in Islamabad. The event was attended by the President and Chief Executive Officer of ZTBL along with members of the bank’s senior management. TPS Pakistan was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and other senior management members. The participation of senior representatives from both organisations marked the formal commencement of the collaboration for the provision of the digital banking applications.

Under the agreement, TPS Pakistan will provide mobile banking and internet banking applications for ZTBL. These platforms are expected to give the bank a technology base through which customers can access banking services through digital channels. Mobile and internet banking have become important components of modern banking infrastructure, allowing customers to interact with financial institutions without relying exclusively on physical branches.

For ZTBL, the introduction and strengthening of these digital channels is particularly relevant as customers increasingly expect convenient access to banking services through smartphones and online platforms. A dedicated mobile banking application can provide customers with access to banking functions through their mobile devices, while internet banking can offer another digital channel for customers who prefer web-based services. Together, these platforms can broaden the ways customers interact with the bank.

The collaboration with TPS Pakistan also forms part of ZTBL’s wider efforts to strengthen its technology infrastructure. As financial institutions expand their digital offerings, reliable applications and supporting systems have become increasingly important to the customer experience. The onboarding of a technology service provider for mobile and internet banking provides ZTBL with specialised capabilities for developing and supporting these channels as the bank continues its digital transformation.

The project is also expected to contribute to more convenient and technology-driven services for ZTBL customers. Digital banking can reduce the need for customers to visit branches for certain banking activities and provide access to services through online channels. For a bank serving customers across agricultural and rural segments, expanding digital access can also provide additional avenues for customers to interact with the institution where digital infrastructure and connectivity are available.

The procurement process and subsequent onboarding highlight the connection between institutional governance and digital transformation. Selecting technology providers through a competitive procurement framework allows financial institutions to assess available service providers while maintaining procurement requirements. In this case, ZTBL’s onboarding of TPS Pakistan combines the procurement process with the bank’s objective of improving its digital banking capabilities.

The partnership comes as Pakistan’s banking industry continues to increase its reliance on digital channels, with mobile and internet banking becoming an increasingly important part of customer service delivery. ZTBL’s latest initiative positions these channels as part of its ongoing technology development and service improvement efforts. Through the collaboration with TPS Pakistan, the bank aims to provide customers with enhanced, convenient and technology-driven banking services while continuing to strengthen its digital banking infrastructure.
