HBL Konnect has partnered with KUMAK and the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Balochistan to support persons with disabilities and students of determination through financial assistance, enhanced stipends and educational scholarships. The collaboration brings digital financial services into an initiative focused on providing financial support to beneficiaries while improving access to formal financial channels across the province.
The partnership is being implemented through HBL Konnect, HBL’s branchless banking platform, which provides customers with access to financial services through digital and agent-based channels. By using a financial services platform for the delivery of assistance and stipends, the initiative can provide beneficiaries with a structured mechanism for receiving financial support. The collaboration also connects financial inclusion objectives with social welfare programmes serving people who may face additional barriers to accessing financial services.
Persons with disabilities and students of determination are among the groups targeted through the initiative. Financial assistance and enhanced stipends are intended to provide direct support to beneficiaries, while educational scholarships can help students continue their studies. The use of formal financial channels for such assistance also forms part of a wider effort to improve access to financial services for communities across Balochistan.
HBL is participating in the initiative in its capacity as the State Bank of Pakistan’s designated Champion Bank for Balochistan. Under this role, the bank continues to support initiatives aimed at expanding financial inclusion and access to financial services across the province. The partnership with KUMAK and the Social Welfare Department adds a social welfare dimension to these efforts by connecting banking infrastructure with financial assistance programmes.
Digital and branchless banking platforms can play an important role in reaching beneficiaries across geographically dispersed areas. Balochistan presents particular challenges in terms of distance and access to conventional financial infrastructure, making alternative channels relevant to efforts aimed at broadening financial access. HBL Konnect provides a network through which financial services can be made available beyond traditional bank branches, supporting the distribution of financial assistance where appropriate.
The initiative also demonstrates how banking infrastructure can support government and social welfare programmes. Partnerships between financial institutions and public-sector departments can help establish mechanisms for distributing stipends and other forms of assistance through formal financial channels. Such arrangements can contribute to greater transparency and accessibility while giving beneficiaries a means of interacting with the financial system.
The collaboration involves KUMAK and the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Balochistan, with HBL supporting the financial services component through HBL Konnect. Its focus on persons with disabilities and students of determination places financial access alongside education and social support. The enhanced stipends and scholarships provide targeted forms of assistance, while the financial services infrastructure facilitates their delivery.
HBL’s broader financial inclusion activities in Balochistan are linked to its role as the designated Champion Bank for the province. The bank has continued to position access to financial services as an important part of its activities in the region, particularly through channels that can reach customers outside conventional branch networks. The latest partnership extends this focus to beneficiaries of social welfare and educational support programmes.
The initiative reflects the role financial technology and branchless banking can play beyond conventional banking services. By supporting the delivery of financial assistance, enhanced stipends and educational scholarships, HBL Konnect is being used as part of an effort to connect vulnerable and underserved groups with formal financial channels. The partnership between HBL, KUMAK and the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Balochistan therefore combines banking infrastructure with social welfare objectives while contributing to wider financial inclusion efforts across the province.
