NIBAF Pakistan Completes Certified General Banking Officers Programme in Sukkur

The National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Pakistan has successfully conducted a five-day Certified General Banking Officers (CGBO) programme in Sukkur for employees of Sindh Bank Limited. Held from October 19 to 23, 2026, the capacity-building initiative focused on strengthening the professional knowledge and core technical competencies of banking employees.

The programme forms part of NIBAF Pakistan’s efforts to support professional development across the country’s financial sector. Banking employees require a sound understanding of general banking procedures, operational responsibilities and the technical knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively. Training initiatives such as the CGBO programme provide a structured opportunity for staff members to strengthen their existing knowledge and develop skills relevant to their day-to-day responsibilities.

Employees of Sindh Bank Limited participated in the initiative, which was facilitated by Mr. Iqbal Zaidi. The five-day format provided a dedicated period for professional learning and capacity building. While NIBAF Pakistan’s announcement highlighted the programme’s completion and its intended focus on core banking competencies, it did not disclose a detailed session-by-session curriculum or specific assessment outcomes.

General banking knowledge remains an important part of banking-sector development, as employees contribute to customer service, transaction handling, account-related processes and other operational functions. A stronger understanding of banking procedures can help staff members carry out their responsibilities more consistently and support the quality of services provided to customers. Professional training also gives financial institutions an opportunity to reinforce employees’ understanding of established practices and operational expectations.

The programme’s delivery in Sukkur reflects NIBAF Pakistan’s commitment to regional outreach. By conducting capacity-building activities outside major financial centres, the institute can extend professional learning opportunities to banking employees in different parts of Pakistan. Regional training initiatives can also help institutions make staff development more accessible while supporting the continued improvement of banking capabilities across their networks.

For Sindh Bank Limited, the participation of its employees in the CGBO programme represents an investment in workforce development. Banking institutions depend on employees who understand core processes and can respond effectively to operational requirements. Continued learning is particularly relevant as customer expectations, service delivery methods and the broader financial environment evolve. Structured training can help employees maintain relevant knowledge and strengthen their professional capabilities.

NIBAF Pakistan continues to support the development of financial-sector professionals through training and educational initiatives. The successful completion of the Certified General Banking Officers programme in Sukkur adds to these efforts, with a focus on building core technical competencies among Sindh Bank Limited employees. The programme ran for five days, from October 19 to 23, 2026, under the facilitation of Mr. Iqbal Zaidi.
