NIBAF Concludes Second Batch of Branch Managers Certification Program for NRSP

The National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) has successfully concluded the second batch of the Branch Managers Certification Program for the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP). The three-day training was held from October 2 to 4, 2025, at NIBAF’s Islamabad campus, with sessions conducted in an in-person format. This initiative is part of NIBAF’s continued efforts to strengthen the capacity and leadership of Pakistan’s microfinance and rural banking professionals through specialized training programs.

The training program was led by two distinguished facilitators, Mr. Shahid Iqbal and Dr. Shazia Mohsin, who brought extensive experience in leadership development, operational management, and financial inclusion. The sessions were designed to provide NRSP branch managers with the skills and strategic understanding needed to manage field operations effectively, lead diverse teams, and ensure service excellence in the evolving microfinance landscape.

The program focused on equipping participants with practical tools to enhance decision-making, risk management, customer relationship handling, and branch-level performance optimization. Given the crucial role branch managers play in connecting communities with financial services, the certification aimed to strengthen both technical and interpersonal competencies required for managing rural and semi-urban branches.

During the course, participants explored modules covering modern banking operations, leadership psychology, communication strategies, performance evaluation, and customer engagement models. The facilitators emphasized how effective branch leadership contributes to financial sustainability and community impact, particularly in rural regions where microfinance institutions serve as a lifeline for small entrepreneurs and low-income households.

The training also highlighted NRSP’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion and sustainable development through its extensive rural outreach. As one of Pakistan’s largest development and microfinance institutions, NRSP operates a vast network of branches that empower individuals, especially in underserved areas, by providing access to financial services, capacity building, and livelihood support. The certification program thus aligns with NRSP’s broader goal of strengthening institutional capacity and human resource excellence across all operational levels.

Participants appreciated the interactive nature of the sessions, which included case studies, group discussions, and leadership exercises. These components encouraged practical learning and experience sharing, helping branch managers apply best practices directly to their work environments. Trainers also underlined the importance of adaptive leadership, digital transformation in banking, and client-centric service delivery in today’s fast-changing financial ecosystem.

Through this collaboration, NIBAF continues to support NRSP in advancing its human resource development agenda and enhancing leadership standards across Pakistan’s microfinance and community banking sectors. The program reflects NIBAF’s mission to foster professional excellence and innovation within the financial industry by providing specialized training that meets emerging institutional and market needs.

The successful completion of the second batch of the Branch Managers Certification Program marks another step toward building a robust, skilled, and motivated workforce capable of driving financial inclusion and operational excellence in Pakistan’s rural economy. NIBAF plans to continue similar capacity-building initiatives with NRSP and other financial institutions to ensure a more efficient and inclusive financial system nationwide.
