The National Institute of Banking and Finance Pakistan (NIBAF Pakistan) has announced an interactive online training workshop titled “From Law to Filing: Mastering Income Tax Return,” designed to help participants develop a stronger understanding of income tax rules and gain practical knowledge of the return filing process. The one-day virtual programme will be held on August 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM and is intended for individuals seeking to file their income tax returns accurately as well as existing filers looking to strengthen their understanding of tax compliance and planning.
The training will be conducted entirely online, allowing participants to attend the session remotely. NIBAF Pakistan has set the training investment at PKR 12,000 plus tax per person. The programme is positioned as an interactive learning opportunity covering the process of understanding tax law and applying relevant provisions when preparing and filing an income tax return.
According to NIBAF Pakistan, the workshop is open to individuals who want to file their income tax returns with greater accuracy and confidence. It is also aimed at people who are already filing tax returns but want to improve their understanding of applicable tax rules, rebates, credits and tax planning. The training therefore covers both participants seeking practical guidance on filing and those who want to strengthen their existing tax knowledge.
The workshop will be facilitated by Mr. Naeem Tarique, a finance professional with an MBA in Finance from the University of Karachi. He has more than ten years of experience in commercial and central banking and more than a decade of specialised experience in Pakistan’s tax landscape. His professional experience includes tax legislation, tax compliance, advisory services and income tax return filing for salaried individuals, Associations of Persons and businesses.
Naeem Tarique also has practical experience working with the Income Tax Ordinance and interpreting and applying its provisions across different categories of taxpayers and transaction types. His experience is intended to provide participants with practical exposure to the tax requirements that apply to different taxpayers and financial situations.
A key area of the workshop will be the Federal Board of Revenue’s IRIS system, which is used for income tax-related filing and compliance activities. The facilitator has extensive practical experience with the system and will bring this knowledge into the training programme. The workshop is expected to help participants understand the practical aspects involved in preparing and submitting income tax information through the relevant digital tax filing process.
The programme will also cover wealth reconciliation, asset and liability disclosures, tax planning, compliance management and the effective use of available tax credits and exemptions. These areas are important components of income tax return preparation and can affect how taxpayers report their financial position and determine their tax obligations.
The focus on wealth reconciliation and disclosure requirements provides participants with an opportunity to better understand how financial information needs to be presented as part of the tax filing process. Similarly, the coverage of tax credits and exemptions is intended to help participants understand available provisions and how they can be applied within the applicable tax framework.
NIBAF Pakistan has announced August 7, 2026, as the last date for nominations for the training programme. Individuals and organisations interested in participating can contact NIBAF Pakistan through the provided registration and marketing email addresses for nominations and additional details.
For registration and programme information, participants can contact registration@nibaf.gov.pk or marketing@nibaf.org.pk. NIBAF Pakistan has also provided telephone contacts at 021-35277511 and 051-9269850, while WhatsApp enquiries can be made at 0303 0652963.
The workshop comes as tax compliance and digital filing remain important areas for individuals and businesses dealing with Pakistan’s tax system. By combining tax legislation with practical return filing, wealth reconciliation and tax planning, the programme is designed to provide participants with a broader understanding of the steps involved in preparing an income tax return.
Through the “From Law to Filing: Mastering Income Tax Return” programme, NIBAF Pakistan is offering participants a structured one-day learning session focused on both the regulatory and practical aspects of income tax filing. The online format also allows participants to join the programme without travelling to a physical training venue, while the involvement of an experienced finance and tax professional provides the session with a practical focus on Pakistan’s tax compliance environment.
