Pakistan Pavilion at CIFTIS 2026 Targets New Chinese Trade and Investment Opportunities

Pakistan has established a dedicated pavilion at the China International Fair for Trade in Services 2026 in Beijing, providing Pakistani companies with a platform to connect with Chinese businesses and explore new opportunities in trade, investment and services. The pavilion was inaugurated on Wednesday by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, who highlighted the government’s efforts to attract Chinese investment across 21 priority sectors and strengthen commercial engagement between businesses in Pakistan and China.

Khalil Hashmi said Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing, together with its four consulates across China, has organised six major business-to-business investment conferences covering a range of sectors. These conferences have focused on agriculture, home appliances and electrical equipment, information technology and telecommunications, battery energy storage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare. According to the ambassador, these initiatives have generated investment commitments of around $22 billion through more than 650 memoranda of understanding signed between Pakistani and Chinese businesses and institutions.

The ambassador said progress has also been recorded on a significant portion of these commitments. Nearly 30% of the memoranda of understanding have advanced into agreements, contracts, factories or plants, while approximately $7 billion of the committed investment has already materialised. The figures were presented as an indication of the progress achieved through business and investment engagement between the two countries, while also highlighting the potential for further cooperation across sectors identified as priorities by Pakistan.

Hashmi said Pakistan’s next focus would be on strengthening direct business-to-business engagement between companies in the two countries. He noted that the Pakistan-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China was nearing formal establishment, which could provide another institutional platform for companies seeking commercial partnerships. Work is also underway to establish a Pakistan-China Commercial Center in Beijing’s Fengtai District, with the proposed centre expected to support Pakistani businesses seeking stronger connections with the Chinese market.

More than 25 Pakistani companies from sectors including agriculture, energy, infrastructure, services and healthcare are participating in CIFTIS 2026. Their participation provides these businesses with an opportunity to present their products and services, interact with potential Chinese partners and examine possibilities for commercial cooperation. The presence of companies from multiple sectors also reflects Pakistan’s effort to promote a broader range of investment and trade opportunities rather than focusing on a limited number of industries.

A dedicated business conference is scheduled to take place on Friday on the sidelines of the fair, bringing Pakistani and Chinese companies together to identify potential areas of cooperation. The conference is expected to provide participating businesses with an additional opportunity to hold direct discussions, explore partnerships and assess potential investment and trade projects. Such business-focused engagement is being positioned as an important part of efforts to translate investment interest and existing commitments into concrete commercial activity.

The Pakistan Pavilion is expected to further facilitate connections between businesses from the two countries and contribute to the expansion of bilateral commercial relations. Khalil Hashmi stressed that the pavilion represented an important beginning but said continued work would be required to achieve broader commercial objectives. He emphasised the need for sustained engagement between businesses and institutions in Pakistan and China as both sides seek to expand investment, trade and services cooperation.

Pakistan’s participation at CIFTIS 2026 therefore forms part of a wider effort to deepen commercial links with China and attract investment into priority sectors. With more than 25 Pakistani companies taking part and new institutional initiatives being developed in Beijing, the government is seeking to create more direct channels for businesses to connect with Chinese counterparts. The focus on business-to-business engagement, investment facilitation and sector-specific cooperation is expected to remain central to efforts to convert existing commitments into operational projects and expand bilateral economic activity.
