SECP Registers Record 5,438 New Companies in July as Incorporations Hit All Time High

Company incorporations in Pakistan reached a new monthly record in July 2026, with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan registering 5,438 new companies during the month. The latest figure represents the highest monthly number of company registrations in the regulator’s history and marks the second consecutive monthly record after incorporations also reached an all-time high in June. The continued increase in new registrations points to sustained activity across Pakistan’s formal corporate sector, with businesses being incorporated across technology, trading, services, construction, food and beverages, tourism, e-commerce, education, real estate development and corporate agricultural farming. The July registration figures also show that smaller corporate structures continued to account for the overwhelming majority of new incorporations, with private companies and single-member companies together representing around 97% of the total registrations recorded during the month.

Private companies accounted for the largest share of new registrations in July, with 3,148 companies incorporated during the month, representing 57.9% of the total. Single-member companies followed with 2,117 registrations, making up 38.9% of all new companies. Limited liability partnerships accounted for another 127 registrations, equivalent to 2.3% of the monthly total. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan also registered 28 non-profit companies under Section 42, representing 0.5% of the total, while 18 public companies and other entities accounted for the remaining 0.3%. The composition of the registrations indicates a strong preference among newly established businesses for private and single-member corporate structures. Combined, these two categories accounted for approximately 5,265 of the 5,438 companies registered during July, highlighting the continued prominence of smaller and closely held business structures within Pakistan’s corporate registration landscape.

Punjab recorded the largest number of new company registrations during July, with 2,756 incorporations representing 51% of the national total. The Islamabad Capital Territory ranked second with 1,053 registrations, accounting for 19%, while Sindh recorded 864 new companies or 16% of the overall figure. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa contributed 450 registrations, equivalent to 8%, followed by Gilgit-Baltistan with 180 registrations representing 3%. Balochistan recorded 135 new companies, accounting for 2% of the total. The regional distribution demonstrates that company formation activity remained concentrated in Pakistan’s major commercial and administrative centres, with Punjab alone accounting for more than half of all new registrations during the month. Islamabad’s position as the second-largest registration centre also reflects continued corporate activity within the federal capital and its surrounding business ecosystem.

Information technology remained the leading sector for new company registrations in July, with 1,008 companies incorporated in the sector. Trading followed with 845 new companies, while the services sector recorded 638 registrations. Construction accounted for 348 new companies, followed by food and beverages with 256, tourism with 207 and e-commerce with 181. Education contributed 165 registrations, while real estate development recorded 162 and corporate agricultural farming accounted for 145. The sectoral figures show that technology remained the largest individual area of new corporate activity during the month, while trading and services also attracted significant numbers of new businesses. The presence of e-commerce, education, tourism and corporate agricultural farming among the leading sectors further indicates that company formation extended across a broad range of commercial activities rather than being concentrated in a single part of the economy.

Foreign investor participation also continued during July, with newly incorporated companies attracting directors or shareholders from several international markets. China accounted for the largest foreign participation, with directors or shareholders associated with 155 newly incorporated companies. The United States followed with participation in nine companies, while Afghanistan was represented in six. South Korea, Germany and Iran each accounted for four companies, while the United Kingdom was represented in three. The shareholder base across the month comprised 9,591 individuals, including 8,318 men representing 87% and 1,273 women representing 13%. The record July registrations, combined with the previous monthly high recorded in June, mark continued momentum in Pakistan’s formal company incorporation activity. With the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan registering more than 5,400 companies in a single month, the latest figures provide a detailed picture of the scale and composition of new business formation across regions, sectors, ownership structures and international participation.
