By bringing together participants from across Pakistan, the hackathon also provided a platform for technology focused teams to present their ideas in a financial sector environment and engage with challenges faced by the banking industry.

The competition comes as Pakistan’s financial services sector continues to see greater interest in technology based solutions, including digital banking, financial technology and automated systems. Hackathons can provide a structured environment for participants to test ideas, develop working solutions and demonstrate how technology can address specific industry requirements. In this context, the UBL National Innovation Hackathon 2026 brought technology development and banking requirements together through a national competition involving a large pool of applicants and a selected group of finalist teams.

The Grand Finale also recognised the contribution of all participants who took part in the programme. UBL said the journey represented the efforts of teams that worked through the intensive challenge to develop solutions addressing practical requirements. The participation of 25 finalist teams after more than 1,280 registrations demonstrates the competitive nature of the programme and the level of interest generated by the initiative among Pakistan’s technology and financial services communities.
