Nexus Fintech Forum has launched in Pakistan as a global fintech industry platform aimed at connecting fintech companies, banks, regulators, investors, academia and other stakeholders across the financial technology ecosystem. The initiative has been established by four Co-Founders, Qasim Qazi, Owais Mukhtar, Rai Salahuddin Ahmad and Ramish Ali, who will jointly lead the platform across their respective areas. According to the Founders’ Agreement, the Forum will focus on advocacy, industry convening, research, facilitation and ecosystem development, with the four founders initially holding equal ownership and voting rights. The platform will begin its operations in Pakistan before gradually expanding into other emerging fintech markets worldwide.
The Forum is designed to provide a common platform for stakeholders that often operate across different parts of the financial services industry. For fintech companies, Nexus Fintech Forum aims to provide connections with financial institutions, regulators, investors and industry networks, while banks and other financial institutions will have access to potential fintech partnerships, market intelligence and technology-focused discussions. The platform also intends to create channels for regulators and policymakers to engage with industry participants through research, policy dialogue and consultation, while investors will be able to access sector information, market insights and potential fintech opportunities. The initiative will initially use Pakistan’s developing digital financial services and fintech sector as a base for building its wider international network.
Nexus Fintech Forum will operate through a range of activities covering events, research, media, education and professional development. Its planned initiatives include conferences, forums, roundtables and stakeholder gatherings, alongside a fintech podcast featuring founders, executives, regulators, investors and other ecosystem leaders. The Forum also plans to conduct industry research, market studies, policy research and sector reports, while its media activities will focus on knowledge sharing and visibility across the fintech industry. Academic collaboration will form another part of the platform, with plans to work with universities, researchers and academic institutions. Training programmes, executive sessions and sector-focused capacity-building initiatives are also planned as part of its broader activities.
The platform’s founders said the Forum will focus on practical connections that can help move fintech ideas towards implementation. These activities are expected to include partnerships between fintech companies and financial institutions, regulatory engagement, investor discussions, industry research, academic collaboration and knowledge development. Qasim Qazi, Co-Founder of Nexus Fintech Forum, said the ambition is to build a global fintech ecosystem platform from Pakistan that connects markets, people and ideas through events, media, research, academia, training and strategic collaboration. Owais Mukhtar, Co-Founder, said stronger cooperation between fintechs, financial institutions, regulators and investors will be important for the sector’s development, while Rai Salahuddin Ahmad highlighted research, knowledge and industry-academia collaboration as important areas for sustainable fintech growth.
The Forum also plans to develop dedicated initiatives and communities for startups, investors, experts, students, academics and industry professionals. Its activities will include recurring fintech events, roundtables, research programmes, podcasts, training sessions and academic engagement, creating multiple channels for stakeholders to participate throughout the year. Ramish Ali, Co-Founder, said the platform aims to move beyond discussions and focus on tangible outcomes through partnerships, technology development and ecosystem building. The founders intend to maintain strong roots in the markets where Nexus operates while developing a connected network that can link local fintech ecosystems with international opportunities.
Beginning with Pakistan, Nexus Fintech Forum plans to gradually establish activities and partnerships across other emerging fintech regions, with the long-term objective of developing a global network connecting financial technology markets. The platform’s principal objectives include facilitating dialogue between fintech companies, financial regulators and investors, alongside policy advocacy, research, membership, events and advisory activities. Its founders intend to position Nexus as an ongoing ecosystem-building platform rather than only an event-focused initiative, bringing together innovation, capital, policy, knowledge and partnerships across markets. Through its planned events, research, media, podcasts, training and collaboration programmes, the Forum aims to create a broader network for fintech stakeholders in Pakistan and eventually across international emerging markets.
