NayaPay Launches Global QR Payments for Pakistani Users in Collaboration With Alipay+

NayaPay has launched global QR code-based payments for Pakistani users in collaboration with Alipay+, the international payments gateway operated by Ant International, marking a significant expansion in cross-border digital payment capabilities for Pakistan’s fintech ecosystem.

The new feature enables millions of users to scan and pay at Alipay+ affiliated merchants across more than 50 countries, providing access to a vast international merchant network that spans retail, dining, transport, healthcare, entertainment and other everyday services. Through this integration, Pakistani consumers can complete transactions abroad using their domestic NayaPay wallets, eliminating the need for cash-heavy travel or multiple foreign payment applications.

The introduction of global QR payments significantly improves the overseas spending experience for Pakistani travelers by offering faster checkout, lower transaction costs and reduced friction. Alipay+ currently connects more than 40 international mobile payment platforms to over 150 million merchants worldwide, giving NayaPay users extensive geographical reach and broad merchant acceptance.

This development builds on NayaPay’s broader strategy to enhance its digital financial services portfolio in Pakistan. Beyond QR-based payments, the company already provides Visa debit cards, local and international money transfers, bill payments, and home remittance services. By adding global QR acceptance, the company aims to position itself as a comprehensive financial companion for Pakistanis studying, working or traveling abroad.

Commenting on the development, Danish A. Lakhani, Chief Executive Officer of NayaPay, said the initiative reflects the company’s long-term ambition to provide Pakistani consumers with financial freedom comparable to global standards. He noted that the launch not only makes payments abroad more seamless but also more affordable, allowing users to pay confidently wherever they are in the world.

Pan Yan, Head of Strategic Partnership Office at Alipay+ under Ant International, stated that the collaboration aims to connect consumers and merchants through seamless, digitally enabled experiences. He highlighted that partnerships with growing mobile platforms like NayaPay are reshaping how travelers interact with local businesses worldwide and helping create more inclusive digital payment ecosystems.

The announcement also marks the latest phase of the partnership that began in early 2024, when NayaPay became Pakistan’s first fintech to enable direct QR payments at more than 80 million merchants in China through Alipay+. The expanded agreement now extends that capability to markets worldwide.

NayaPay is authorised by the State Bank of Pakistan and focuses on improving financial access for consumers and small businesses. In 2024, the company was recognised on the Forbes Asia 100 to Watch list and was also named to the CB Insights Fintech 100, reflecting its growing global profile and innovation in digital finance.
