easypaisa, Pakistan’s digital bank, has partnered with 5th Pillar Family Takaful to introduce the 5th Pillar Family Takaful Umrah Savings Plan, a Shariah-compliant savings and protection solution designed to help customers financially prepare for Umrah through a structured savings programme.
The new offering combines savings with Takaful-based protection and provides easypaisa customers with a digital route to plan for their Umrah expenses over a defined period. The plan is available to customers between the ages of 18 and 60 and is intended to provide a disciplined approach to saving for the religious journey while offering the convenience of digital financial services.
The partnership also includes 5th Pillar Travel (Private) Limited, which will provide end-to-end travel facilitation when the plan reaches maturity. Customers will be able to utilise the maturity proceeds for a complete Umrah package covering services such as visa processing, flights, accommodation and ziarat arrangements.
According to the companies, the integration of savings, protection and travel facilitation is intended to provide customers with a single ecosystem for preparing financially and arranging the necessary services for Umrah. This structure allows users to save over time while also having the option to use their maturity proceeds towards the associated travel arrangements.
The Umrah Savings Plan has terms starting from five years, giving customers a longer period to build their savings. Contributions can be made on an annual, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly basis, providing flexibility for customers depending on their preferred payment frequency and financial planning.
At maturity, customers will have the option to withdraw their proceeds in cash or use the amount towards a complete Umrah package. This provides flexibility for users who may prefer to arrange their travel independently or those who want to use the integrated travel facilitation available through the partnership.
Jahanzeb Khan, President and CEO of easypaisa digital bank, said the company was focused on developing financial products that reflect the aspirations, values and everyday requirements of its customers. He said the Umrah Savings Plan brings together Shariah-compliant savings, protection and Umrah facilitation through a single digital offering.
According to Jahanzeb Khan, the partnership is intended to help millions of Pakistanis plan for Umrah with greater confidence and convenience by combining financial preparation with travel services. The offering also reflects the company’s broader efforts to provide financial solutions that address specific customer requirements.
Nasar Qureshi, CEO of 5th Pillar Family Takaful, said the Umrah Savings Plan was developed to help individuals and families work towards an important personal goal through a structured and Shariah-compliant savings framework.
He said the partnership with easypaisa would allow 5th Pillar Family Takaful to reach customers at scale while providing a combined experience covering protection, disciplined savings and travel facilitation. The collaboration brings together digital financial services and Takaful-based protection with Umrah travel arrangements.
The companies said the launch further expands easypaisa’s Islamic finance and Takaful portfolio. The offering is part of the digital bank’s efforts to provide accessible and Shariah-compliant financial products designed around customers’ financial and personal objectives.
easypaisa currently has more than 60 million registered users and is the country’s first digital bank to commence commercial operations. The company said its expansion of financial products and services remains aligned with the State Bank of Pakistan’s vision of promoting inclusive economic growth.
The digital bank is also continuing to broaden its services for existing customers as well as people who remain unbanked or underbanked. The launch of the Umrah Savings Plan adds another specialised financial product to its portfolio, combining digital savings, Takaful protection and travel facilitation for customers planning their Umrah journey.
