Faisalabad Electric Supply Company launches instant electricity bill payments using Raast gateway

The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, widely known as FESCO, has officially rolled out a new digital payment facility for its consumers by integrating its billing operations with Raast, the instant payment gateway of Pakistan. This development allows electricity consumers to settle their utility bills instantly and securely through their existing mobile banking applications. By using the Raast platform, FESCO aims to modernize its collection systems and simplify the monthly payment process for millions of households and businesses across its service territory. The integration represents a major step forward in replacing traditional paper-based payment methods with efficient digital alternatives that do not require consumers to visit physical banks or utility centers.

According to FESCO spokesman Muhammad Saeed Raza, this digital initiative was launched in close alignment with the policy of the federal government to promote a cashless economy across Pakistan. The project also follows specific guidelines issued by the Ministry of Energy Power Division, which has actively directed power distribution companies to adopt digital financial pathways and provide the public with faster, more reliable payment options. Through this program, consumers can avoid the long queues and processing delays that typically accompany over-the-counter payments at commercial banks or post offices.

Under the newly introduced system, consumers can make payments by navigating to the Raast payment section within the mobile application of their respective bank. From there, users can simply scan the unique Quick Response code printed directly onto their monthly electricity bills. Once the QR code is scanned, the application automatically retrieves the billing details, allowing the customer to approve and finalize the transaction in real time. Crucially, the utility company has confirmed that this digital payment option is entirely free of service fees or convenience charges, making it a highly attractive and cost-effective alternative to traditional transaction channels that often levy hidden processing fees.

A major benefit of using the Raast system is that all completed payments are reflected immediately within the internal database of FESCO. This real-time update enables the regional officers and billing teams of the company to verify transactions online as soon as they occur, eliminating the typical multi-day clearing window associated with older payment methods. The immediate updates are expected to reduce administrative errors, lower the occurrence of mistaken power disconnections, and significantly improve overall customer service standards by providing transparent, up-to-the-minute account histories.

The integration of Raast into the operations of FESCO is part of a larger, phased digital rollout directed by the Ministry of Energy. Power distribution companies across Pakistan are working to implement the Raast platform for various types of transactions, including Person-to-Government, Government-to-Person, and Government-to-Government payments. FESCO has taken this instruction a step further by introducing the QR code and Raast-based payment systems not only for regular monthly electricity bills but also for other critical financial interactions. These include payments for demand notices, detection bills, and official connection fees, effectively creating a unified digital platform for all consumer-facing financial transactions.

To ensure the successful adoption of this new technology, FESCO has instructed its regional officers and field staff to actively educate the public and promote the benefits of using digital payment methods. The utility company is urging its consumer base to transition away from cash-based payments and embrace the efficiency of the Raast platform, which ultimately supports the national vision of digital financial inclusion. By removing processing fees and ensuring instantaneous database reconciliation, the company hopes to set a new standard for public utility management in Pakistan, proving that modern technological solutions can make everyday administrative tasks much simpler and more transparent for the general public.
