The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA Pakistan) organized an interactive session focused on emotional resilience, workplace stress and career readiness as part of its efforts to prepare aspiring professionals for the demands of the working environment. The session, titled “From Burnout to Balance: Building Resilience and Career Readiness,” was held on August 5, 2026, at the ICMA Pakistan Head Office in Karachi and was arranged by the organization’s Job Placements and Industrial Linkages Department.
The session was led by Nazia Aziz, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Leadspire Pakistan, who guided participants through issues that can affect individuals as they transition into professional careers. The discussion addressed emotional resilience, workplace stress, professional boundaries and the skills required to manage professional responsibilities effectively. The session was structured around practical aspects of adapting to workplace expectations while maintaining personal balance and developing the confidence needed for long term professional growth.
A key focus of the session was emotional resilience, an important capability for professionals entering increasingly demanding work environments. Participants were encouraged to understand how workplace pressures can affect professional performance and how developing resilience can help individuals respond more effectively to challenging situations. The discussion also examined the importance of recognising workplace stress and maintaining appropriate boundaries when managing professional relationships and responsibilities.
The session also addressed the transition from academic and professional preparation into the workplace. Moving into a professional environment can require individuals to adapt to new expectations, responsibilities and communication patterns. The programme provided participants with insights into essential workplace skills that can support this transition and help them approach their early professional experiences with greater awareness and preparedness.
Professional boundaries formed another important part of the discussion. Understanding appropriate boundaries can help employees establish healthier workplace relationships while maintaining professionalism. The session highlighted the relevance of balancing professional responsibilities with personal wellbeing and developing an approach that enables individuals to remain productive without allowing workplace pressures to become overwhelming.
Nazia Aziz’s participation brought an industry perspective to the session, with her role as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Leadspire Pakistan providing a professional context for the discussion. The session focused on preparing participants for situations they may encounter during their careers, particularly when managing workplace expectations, stress and professional relationships.
The programme was organised by ICMA Pakistan’s Job Placements and Industrial Linkages Department, which works to strengthen connections between professional education and employment opportunities. Sessions of this nature complement technical and academic development by addressing the workplace skills and behavioural capabilities that can influence an individual’s career progression.
The initiative also reflects the growing importance of career readiness alongside formal professional qualifications. While technical expertise remains an important part of professional development, employers also require individuals who can adapt to changing environments, communicate effectively, manage workplace pressures and maintain professional standards. Building these capabilities before or during the early stages of a career can help professionals respond more effectively to workplace challenges.
The “From Burnout to Balance” session was presented by ICMA Pakistan as an empowering step toward developing confident, adaptable and future ready professionals. By bringing together discussions around resilience, workplace stress, professional boundaries and career preparation, the programme provided participants with a broader perspective on the transition into professional life.
The session forms part of ICMA Pakistan’s wider engagement with professional development and industry readiness. Through initiatives organised by its Job Placements and Industrial Linkages Department, the institute continues to provide opportunities for aspiring professionals to gain exposure to workplace expectations and develop skills that complement their formal accounting and management education.
