NIBAF Pakistan has announced a specialised one-day training workshop titled “Digital Lending Platforms: Risk and Compliance Challenges” to help professionals strengthen their understanding of governance, regulatory compliance and risk management within Pakistan’s rapidly evolving digital lending ecosystem. The programme will take place on August 19, 2026, at the NIBAF Pakistan Lahore Campus through an in-person training session.
The workshop has been developed to address the increasing adoption of digital lending platforms across Pakistan’s banking and financial services sector. As financial institutions continue expanding technology-driven lending solutions, organisations are placing greater emphasis on ensuring that digital products comply with regulatory requirements while maintaining effective risk governance and responsible lending practices.
According to NIBAF Pakistan, the programme is designed for professionals working across banks, microfinance institutions, fintech companies, digital lending platforms, non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) and regulatory organisations. The training aims to provide participants with practical knowledge of compliance obligations, operational risks and governance frameworks associated with digital credit products and technology-enabled lending services.
The one-day programme will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a training investment of PKR 18,000 plus applicable taxes per participant. NIBAF Pakistan has announced August 18, 2026, as the final date for nominations, allowing organisations and professionals to register before the workshop begins.
The training will be facilitated by Syed Asghar Hussain, a senior banking and fintech executive with more than 20 years of experience across SME finance, microfinance, digital banking and management consulting. His professional expertise includes digital lending, embedded finance and regulatory compliance, making him well positioned to deliver practical insights into Pakistan’s evolving financial technology landscape.
Syed Asghar Hussain currently serves as Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Strategy at Parwaaz Financial Services Limited (PFSL), a Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) regulated non-bank financial institution. In his current role, he leads the organisation’s digital strategy while overseeing digital SME lending initiatives designed to support technology-enabled financial services.
His career also includes leadership positions at Raqami Islamic Digital Bank, Bank Alfalah’s Digital Banking Group, FINCA Microfinance Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Tameer Microfinance Bank, now operating as Telenor Microfinance Bank. Through these roles, he has gained extensive practical experience working within both State Bank of Pakistan and SECP regulatory frameworks governing digital lending, financial technology and banking operations.
Participants attending the workshop are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of risk governance, compliance obligations and regulatory expectations associated with digital lending platforms. The programme is also expected to explore operational challenges facing fintech companies and financial institutions as they continue expanding digital credit products while maintaining regulatory compliance and protecting customer interests.
The growing adoption of digital financial services has increased the need for specialised knowledge in areas such as responsible lending, digital risk management, embedded finance and regulatory oversight. As financial institutions accelerate digital transformation, professional development initiatives play an important role in preparing industry professionals to manage emerging risks while supporting innovation across Pakistan’s financial sector.
NIBAF Pakistan continues to expand its professional training portfolio by offering specialised programmes covering digital banking, financial technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, governance, compliance and sustainable finance. Through collaborations with experienced industry practitioners, the institute aims to strengthen technical capabilities across Pakistan’s banking and financial services ecosystem while supporting the development of a skilled workforce capable of meeting the changing demands of the digital economy.
