The National Institute of Banking and Finance Pakistan conducted a specialized two-day training program focusing on SBP Prudential Regulations for newly inducted central banking officers enrolled in the 28th batch of the State Bank Officers Training Scheme. The interactive residential session took place from July 20 to July 21, 2026, at the NIBAF Islamabad Campus. The structured workshop forms a core component of the pre-induction training curriculum designed to prepare emerging central bank leaders for supervisory and policy execution roles within the State Bank of Pakistan.
The training module was delivered by Attaullah Memon, Senior Joint Director at the Banking Policy and Regulations Department of the State Bank of Pakistan. Bringing extensive experience in banking supervision, regulatory policy, and compliance risk management, Memon provided comprehensive instruction on the statutory framework governing commercial and corporate banking oversight in Pakistan. The curriculum covered the primary legal mandates authorizing central bank oversight, risk management frameworks, exposure limits, asset classification norms, and provisioning requirements essential for maintaining financial sector stability.
Throughout the two-day session, SBOTS-28 officer trainees examined practical case studies involving regulatory compliance, contingent liabilities, credit monitoring standards, and collateral valuation mechanics. The interactive structure allowed participants to explore the underlying rationale behind Prudential Regulations, gaining insights into how central banking policy safeguards financial institutions against systemic risk, credit concentration, and operational vulnerabilities. Discussions also highlighted recent regulatory updates and macroeconomic adjustments shaping modern supervisory practices.
As the dedicated learning and development subsidiary of the central bank, NIBAF Pakistan serves a critical function in training administrative and operational personnel for the country’s financial architecture. By facilitating specialized lectures led by senior SBP officials, the institute ensures that new officer cohorts gain a practical, field-tested understanding of regulatory enforcement and central bank operations. The successful execution of the SBOTS-28 training workshop reinforces ongoing national efforts to build a highly skilled workforce capable of maintaining regulatory discipline across Pakistan’s financial ecosystem.
