NIBAF Pakistan has successfully conducted a specialised technical session on Forex Management for officers participating in the State Bank Officers Training Scheme (SBOTS-28). The session was held on September 10, 2026, at NIBAF Pakistan’s Islamabad Campus as part of the training programme for officers of the State Bank of Pakistan.
The technical session focused on the operational aspects of the foreign exchange market and provided participants with insights into the mechanisms involved in managing foreign exchange activities. The programme was structured to strengthen participants’ understanding of market operations and the processes that support the functioning of the foreign exchange market.
Muhammad Farrukh, Joint Director at the Domestic Markets & Monetary Management Department of the State Bank of Pakistan, served as the facilitator for the session. His involvement brought direct institutional expertise from the department responsible for key areas related to domestic financial markets and monetary management.
A major area covered during the session was foreign exchange market operations. Participants were introduced to the operational framework governing activities in the foreign exchange market, helping them understand how different market functions are managed within the regulatory and institutional structure of the State Bank of Pakistan.
The session also addressed liquidity management strategies, an important component of financial market operations. Understanding liquidity conditions and the tools used to manage them is particularly relevant for officers working in central banking, as liquidity management can influence market functioning and broader monetary and financial conditions.
The programme further covered the operational mechanics governed by the State Bank of Pakistan’s Domestic Markets & Monetary Management Department. The session provided SBOTS-28 officers with an opportunity to develop a more practical understanding of the processes and responsibilities associated with foreign exchange and domestic market operations.
The training session forms part of NIBAF Pakistan’s broader role in developing technical and professional capabilities among officers associated with the State Bank of Pakistan. By combining specialised subject knowledge with practical insights from experienced central bank officials, such sessions support the professional development of officers preparing for responsibilities within Pakistan’s central banking system.
