Easypaisa Marks One Year of Digital Banking in Pakistan, Partners with Ant International’s WorldFirst

Easypaisa, Pakistan’s leading digital bank, celebrated the first anniversary of its digital banking operations, marking a year of rapid growth and financial inclusion initiatives. The milestone event was attended by Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunications; Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance; Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination; easypaisa board members, government officials, policymakers, business leaders, media representatives, and members of the intelligentsia.

The event, hosted by Easypaisa Board Chairman Irfan Wahab Khan, Board Director and President of Ant International Douglas Feagin, and President & CEO Jahanzeb Khan, highlighted Easypaisa Digital Bank’s contributions to advancing digital finance across the country. During the occasion, Jahanzeb Khan announced a strategic partnership with WorldFirst, a cross-border payments platform powered by Ant Group. This collaboration will allow easypaisa customers to receive remittances and cross-border payments from over 100 countries, expanding beyond traditional corridors such as the GCC, UK, and US, with transparent foreign exchange rates and fast, secure settlement.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja congratulated Easypaisa Digital Bank on its first year of operations, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting the digital economy under the leadership of the Prime Minister. She noted that the ongoing digitization process aligns the national economy with modern requirements and praised the record growth in IT exports as a positive indicator of Pakistan’s economic potential.

Bilal Azhar Kayani commended Easypaisa’s efforts in driving digital financial services. He highlighted the importance of demonstrating tangible benefits of cashless transactions, expanding merchant digitization, integrating digital payments with government services, and promoting electronic transactions across sectors, supported by an enabling regulatory and policy environment.

Irfan Wahab Khan acknowledged the support of regulators, government policies, and partners such as Ant International, describing the anniversary as a proud moment for Pakistan’s entire financial ecosystem. He emphasized that the milestone reflects the nation’s progress in embracing innovation, inclusion, and digital transformation.

Douglas Feagin reaffirmed Ant Group’s commitment to Pakistan, stating that the partnership with Easypaisa aims to leverage technology to unlock opportunities and build a more inclusive financial future for the country.

Easypaisa Digital Bank currently serves one in every five Pakistanis, with a female user base of 31%, and processed over 3.8 billion transactions in 2025, valued at more than PKR 15 trillion—approximately 11% of Pakistan’s GDP. The bank continues to set benchmarks for digital banking and financial empowerment, expanding access to digital financial services nationwide.
