NIBAF Pakistan has announced a specialized executive workshop focused on fraud and forgery in banks, with the training designed to strengthen awareness of internal controls and help banking professionals understand practices for managing fraud-related risks. The one-day workshop, titled “Fraud & Forgery in Banks: Internal Control Awareness & Best Practices,” is scheduled to take place on October 22, 2026, at the NIBAF Pakistan Karachi Campus.
The workshop will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is intended for professionals involved in branch operations, compliance, auditing, fraud investigation, credit, customer-facing functions and technology security. NIBAF Pakistan has set the training investment at PKR 18,000 plus applicable tax per participant. The institution has set October 21, 2026, as the last date for nominations, giving participating organizations and professionals a deadline to complete their registration ahead of the workshop.
The training is aimed at Branch Managers and Operations Managers, Internal Control and Compliance Officers, Branch Compliance Officers and Branch Auditors, Fraud Analysts and Investigation Officers, Credit Officers and Front Desk Staff. Call Center Managers and IT Security Teams are also included among the intended participants. The broad target audience reflects the range of banking functions involved in preventing, identifying and responding to fraudulent activity and forged transactions.
Muhammad Abdul Rafey Khan, a Senior Banker and Professional Trainer, will facilitate the workshop. According to the profile shared by NIBAF Pakistan, Khan has more than 32 years of experience in the financial sector and has worked with institutions including Standard Chartered, United Bank Limited, MCB Bank, Askari Bank and The Bank of Punjab. His professional background includes senior operational responsibilities across banking networks, with experience covering operational risk management, regulatory compliance and internal controls for conventional and Islamic banking branches.
Khan has also served as a Regional Operations Head and has worked in areas connected with central bank guidelines and banking operations. His profile identifies him as a technical resource person for the State Bank of Pakistan in areas including Currency Management Strategy, trade processing and RAAST. His work as a corporate educator includes curriculum development, assessment frameworks and professional training for banking employees. He is also described as a certified Master Trainer in KYC, Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism.
The workshop is expected to focus on practical awareness of fraud and forgery risks within banking operations, alongside internal control practices that can help employees identify weaknesses and follow appropriate control procedures. The training is particularly relevant to professionals responsible for branch operations, compliance monitoring, audit functions and fraud investigations, as these roles frequently deal with transaction controls, documentation, customer verification and operational risk.
Khan’s academic background includes an MS in Management from UET Lahore and an Executive MBA in Marketing. His professional training portfolio also covers regulatory compliance, technical branch operations and workplace emotional intelligence. NIBAF Pakistan has positioned the workshop as an opportunity for banking professionals across different functional areas to strengthen their understanding of compliance requirements, internal controls and operational practices.
