HBL and the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on strategic cooperation to provide freelancers across Pakistan with tailored banking and financial solutions. The agreement brings together one of the country’s major banking institutions and a representative body for freelancers with the aim of addressing financial needs linked to the growing freelance economy. Under the collaboration, the two organizations will work toward making banking services more accessible and practical for freelancers, particularly those managing income and payments received from international clients.
The partnership is designed to simplify several aspects of financial management for freelancers, including the handling of international payments and access to a broader range of financial services. Freelancers working with overseas clients often require reliable channels for receiving and managing payments, along with banking facilities that accommodate the nature of their work. Through the strategic cooperation outlined in the MoU, HBL and PAFLA intend to provide solutions tailored to these requirements while supporting freelancers in managing their financial activities more efficiently.
The agreement also reflects the increasing importance of freelancers within Pakistan’s digital and technology-driven economy. Freelancers provide services to clients and businesses in international markets across a wide range of areas, creating financial requirements that can differ from those of conventional salaried customers. Access to suitable banking facilities can help freelancers manage international earnings, conduct routine financial transactions and make use of other banking services through a more streamlined process. The collaboration between HBL and PAFLA is aimed at supporting these needs through a structured relationship between the bank and the freelancers’ association.
Faisal Malik, Head of HBL Konnect, and Dr. Imran Batada, President of PAFLA, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both sides, including Muhammad Nassir Salim, President and CEO of HBL, Aalishaan Zaidi, Head Retail at HBL, and Ibrahim Amin, Co-founder and Chairman of PAFLA. Their presence highlighted the participation of senior leadership in establishing the strategic cooperation and its focus on developing financial support for freelancers.
Senior officials from both organizations also attended the event, bringing together representatives involved in banking, retail services and the freelance sector. The participation of HBL Konnect in the agreement is particularly relevant to the partnership’s focus on accessible financial services, while PAFLA’s involvement provides a direct connection to the freelancer community. The MoU establishes a platform for the two organizations to work together on financial solutions that correspond with the working patterns and payment requirements of freelancers.
For freelancers operating from Pakistan, international payments are an important part of managing relationships with overseas customers and businesses. The collaboration is intended to make this area of financial activity easier while also providing access to a wider set of banking and financial services. By combining HBL’s banking capabilities with PAFLA’s connection to the freelance community, the agreement seeks to support freelancers as they manage their earnings and financial needs within Pakistan’s increasingly digital economy.
The HBL and PAFLA agreement therefore establishes a framework for continued strategic cooperation focused on freelancers and their banking requirements. The partnership places particular emphasis on international payment management and access to financial services, with the broader objective of supporting the financial growth of freelancers across Pakistan. The initiative adds to the ongoing development of financial services aimed at individuals participating in the country’s digital economy and international freelance market.
