The National Institute of Banking and Finance Pakistan has completed Module One of its 81st Islamic Banking Certificate Course at its specialized campus in Lahore. Designed specifically for commercial bank officers and financial professionals, the six-day intensive training program ran from July 13 to July 18, 2026, delivering face-to-face instruction focused on core Islamic financial principles, product structures, and practical Shariah applications. As the primary training arm of the central bank ecosystem, NIBAF Pakistan continues to execute structured capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening professional expertise across the domestic banking landscape as Pakistan progresses toward a fully Shariah-compliant financial system.
The first module featured a structured curriculum delivered by prominent Shariah scholars and Islamic finance practitioners holding positions across major national and digital banking institutions. The opening two days were led by Mufti Tayyab Amin, Chairman of the Shariah Board at Allied Bank Limited, who provided participants with foundational insights into Islamic jurisprudence and underlying commercial contracts. Sessions on the third and fourth days were conducted by Mufti Uzair Usmani, Shariah Board Member at Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, focusing on specialized financial instruments, risk management, and agricultural finance mechanisms. The module concluded on days five and six under the guidance of Mufti Ammar Ashraf, Shariah Board Member at Buraq Digital Bank, who addressed modern digital Islamic banking models, compliance standards, and contemporary transactional structures.
By bringing together experienced Shariah scholars and practicing bankers, the certificate course aims to bridge theoretical Shariah knowledge with day-to-day retail and commercial banking operations. Through comprehensive case studies, interactive lectures, and real-world scenarios, participating officers gained actionable skills needed to ensure proper Shariah governance within their respective financial institutions. NIBAF Pakistan reiterated its long-term commitment to advancing technical competence, regulatory understanding, and Shariah excellence across the national financial services sector, serving as a vital training hub for the ongoing evolution of Pakistan’s banking industry.
