NIBAF Pakistan To Host Online Training On Environmental And Social Risk Management

National Institute of Banking and Finance Pakistan (NIBAF Pakistan) is set to conduct an interactive online training session on Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) on August 19, 2026. The virtual programme is designed for banking and financial professionals involved in risk evaluation, compliance, financial products and other areas connected with environmental and social risk management.

The training session will be held online from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM on August 19, providing participants with a focused programme on Environmental and Social Risk Management. The training investment has been set at PKR 12,000 plus applicable tax per participant.

The session is aimed at professionals working across several functions within the banking and financial services sector. The target audience includes teams involved in risk management, product development, compliance and audit, as well as treasury functions. The programme is intended for professionals whose responsibilities include evaluating risks and developing or managing financial products and services.

Dr. Syed Asim Ali Bukhari will facilitate the training session. He holds a PhD in Green Banking, Governance and Risk Management from USM, Malaysia, and has also obtained a certification in Green and Sustainable Finance from the Chartered Banker Institute in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Bukhari is currently working as Band-4 and Unit Head ESG at The Bank of Punjab. His professional expertise covers Green Banking, Green and Sustainable Financing and Environmental and Social Risk Management. His academic background in these areas is supported by more than 20 years of professional experience across the public sector and Pakistan’s banking industry.

His banking experience includes work across several areas, including branch operations, audit, Environmental and Social Risk Management systems and green product development. This combination of professional and academic experience forms the basis of his role as facilitator for the upcoming NIBAF Pakistan training programme.

Dr. Bukhari has also conducted training programmes covering different aspects of Green Banking adoption. His previous training areas include State Bank of Pakistan Green Banking Guidelines, Green Financing, Green Business Facilitation, Environmental and Social Risk Management and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

The upcoming session will provide banking and financial professionals with an opportunity to engage with Environmental and Social Risk Management practices and related areas of sustainable finance. The programme is particularly relevant for professionals whose roles involve risk assessment, compliance, audit, treasury and financial product development. NIBAF Pakistan has set August 18, 2026, as the last date for nominations for the training programme.
