MCB Bank Limited held a webinar focused on financial literacy and digital financial literacy, with particular emphasis on safe banking practices in an increasingly digital financial environment. Titled “Financial Literacy – Digital Financial Literacy: Banking Safely in a Digital World,” the session was scheduled for August 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM through Zoom. The session brought together banking professionals, financial inclusion specialists, an academic, and a representative from the business community to discuss awareness around digital financial services and safer banking practices.
The webinar featured Ms. Huma Mehmood Bukhari, Joint Director, Financial Inclusion Support Department, as the keynote speaker. The session also included Ms. Fouzia Aslam, Chief Manager, SBP BSC Faisalabad, and Mr. Ahmad Bilal Arif, Deputy Chief Manager, SBP BSC Faisalabad, as speakers. Their participation placed financial literacy and financial inclusion at the centre of the discussion, particularly as consumers increasingly use digital channels for payments, banking transactions and other financial services.
Mrs. Rubina Amjad, Founder President of FWCCI, also participated as a speaker, bringing a business and community perspective to the discussion. Professor Dr. Asghar Ali, Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, was another speaker at the webinar. The participation of representatives from financial institutions, academia and the business community provided a broader setting for discussing the importance of financial awareness in the digital age.
Mr. Syed Hassan Talal, Unit Head Fraud Risk Management Digital Banking at MCB Bank Ltd., also joined the panel as a speaker. His area of responsibility directly relates to fraud risk management and digital banking, making the subject particularly relevant to the webinar’s focus on banking safely in a digital world. As digital financial services become increasingly integrated into everyday transactions, awareness of potential risks and responsible use of banking channels remains an important part of financial literacy.
The webinar was moderated by Mr. Kashif Zafar Cheema, Unit Head Quality Assurance & Lead Focal Person at MCB Bank Ltd. His role in the session supported the discussion among the participating speakers and helped structure the conversation around digital financial literacy and secure banking practices.
The event was conducted through Zoom, allowing participants to attend the session remotely. The webinar information provided a Zoom meeting ID and passcode for participants, reflecting the digital nature of the session itself. By using an online platform to discuss digital financial awareness, the event also highlighted the growing role of digital communication in extending financial education to wider audiences.
Digital financial literacy has become an increasingly important component of financial awareness as banking services move beyond traditional branches and into mobile applications, online platforms, digital payments and other electronic channels. Understanding how to use these services safely can help customers make informed decisions when accessing financial products and conducting transactions through digital channels.
The focus on banking safely also connects financial literacy with fraud risk awareness. Customers using digital banking services need to understand the importance of protecting their financial information and exercising caution when interacting with digital banking channels. Awareness and responsible digital behaviour can play an important role in reducing exposure to financial fraud and helping customers use digital services with greater confidence.
The participation of the Financial Inclusion Support Department and SBP BSC Faisalabad representatives further highlighted the connection between financial literacy and broader access to financial services. Financial inclusion is not limited to providing access to banking products; customers also need the knowledge and awareness required to use those services effectively. Digital financial literacy can therefore support wider participation in the formal financial system as more banking activities shift toward digital channels.
MCB Bank’s webinar brought these issues together under the broader theme of banking safely in a digital world. With speakers representing banking, financial inclusion, academia and the business sector, the session provided a platform to discuss the importance of awareness, responsible digital banking behaviour and risk management in Pakistan’s evolving financial landscape.
