Mobilink Bank, Yango Pakistan Partner to Offer Shariah-Compliant Vehicle and Handset Financing

Mobilink Bank and Yango Pakistan, part of the global technology company Yango Group, have entered into a partnership to provide eligible Yango partner drivers and couriers with access to Shariah-compliant vehicle and handset financing, embedded Takaful protection and digital banking and payment solutions. The collaboration is designed to address the financial and operational requirements of drivers who depend on vehicles and other digital tools as essential assets for generating income through the ride-hailing and delivery ecosystem. By bringing financing, protection, banking, digital payments and connectivity together, the two companies aim to provide partner drivers with a broader set of financial services linked directly to their earning activities.

Under the partnership, eligible Yango partner drivers will be able to access Car Diminishing Musharakah financing of up to PKR 5 million. The financing arrangement is intended to support drivers seeking vehicles that can be used as productive assets for their ride-hailing activities. In addition to car financing, eligible drivers will have access to Murabaha financing for motorcycles, e-bikes, rickshaws and handsets. Rickshaw, motorcycle and handset financing will also be available under applicable Corporate Guarantee arrangements, providing eligible members of the Yango partner network with financing options across different categories of vehicles and essential equipment.

The partnership places particular emphasis on the role of vehicles in the livelihoods of ride-hailing drivers. For individuals operating through digital mobility platforms, a vehicle is not simply a personal asset but an important part of their ability to generate daily income. Access to financing can allow eligible drivers to acquire or upgrade the vehicles and equipment required for their work, while the inclusion of Takaful protection is intended to provide an additional layer of financial support. By combining these services with digital banking and payment facilities, Mobilink Bank and Yango Pakistan are positioning the partnership as an integrated financial offering for drivers rather than a standalone vehicle financing arrangement.

Miral Sharif, Country Head for Yango Pakistan, said the vehicle represents the foundation of a driver’s earning potential and that access to suitable financing and protection can directly affect the ability of drivers to work and expand their income-generating activities. She said the partnership with Mobilink Bank would bring financing and related financial solutions closer to eligible partner drivers while giving them greater flexibility to invest in the tools they depend on in their daily work. According to Sharif, the collaboration is also intended to contribute to the development of a stronger and more sustainable driver ecosystem.

The partnership also reflects the growing role of digital platforms in connecting workers with financial services. Drivers and couriers operating through ride-hailing and delivery applications often require access to vehicles, smartphones, connectivity and convenient payment mechanisms to maintain their operations. The arrangement between Mobilink Bank and Yango Pakistan brings several of these requirements into a single ecosystem, allowing eligible drivers to access financing alongside digital banking, payment and connectivity-related benefits.

Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, President and CEO of Mobilink Bank, said Pakistan’s gig economy is creating a new generation of entrepreneurs, while a significant number of people working within this economy remain outside formal financial services. He said the partnership would provide ride-hailing drivers with access to Shariah-compliant financing, protection and digital banking tools that can support their livelihoods and sustainable growth. The comments highlight the bank’s focus on extending formal financial services to individuals whose income is connected to digital platforms and flexible work arrangements.

In addition to financing, eligible Yango partner drivers and couriers will receive access to Mobilink Bank’s digital banking and payment ecosystem. This includes digital account onboarding and benefits available through the Business Plus Account. The partnership will also provide access to Raast QR payments and a dedicated Driver QR facility for fare collection, giving drivers digital options for receiving payments from customers. These services are intended to complement the financing arrangements by providing drivers with banking and payment tools that can be used as part of their everyday business activities.

The inclusion of Raast QR payments and a dedicated Driver QR also connects the partnership with Pakistan’s broader shift towards digital payments. For drivers, digital fare collection can provide an alternative to cash-based transactions while linking payment activity with formal banking services. Through the partnership, eligible Yango drivers and couriers will therefore have access not only to asset financing but also to digital payment facilities that can support their regular earning activities.

The offering also includes select connectivity and handset benefits, which are particularly relevant for workers whose earnings depend on access to mobile applications. Smartphones and reliable connectivity are essential for drivers and couriers to receive ride or delivery requests, communicate with customers and manage their activities through digital platforms. By including handset financing and selected connectivity benefits alongside vehicle financing and banking services, the partnership addresses several of the basic tools required by members of the Yango partner network.

The financing structure covers different categories of productive assets, allowing eligible drivers to select solutions according to their individual requirements. Car financing is available through Diminishing Musharakah up to PKR 5 million, while Murabaha financing is available for motorcycles, e-bikes, rickshaws and handsets. The Corporate Guarantee arrangements applicable to certain financing categories provide another mechanism through which eligible Yango partners can access the available facilities.

The collaboration between Mobilink Bank and Yango Pakistan combines a digital mobility platform with a formal banking institution to offer financing and financial services to individuals working within the ride-hailing and courier economy. With vehicle financing, handset financing, Takaful protection, digital accounts, Raast QR payments and connectivity benefits included in the proposition, the partnership is aimed at addressing multiple financial and operational needs of eligible drivers and couriers through an integrated offering.
