The initiative aims to strengthen both technical and strategic capabilities among finance professionals working across government departments nationwide, with a focus on developing skills that can contribute to more effective public financial management.
The engagement highlighted the importance of professional development within Pakistan’s public finance system. Strengthening the technical knowledge and strategic capacity of officials can help institutions manage financial resources more effectively while supporting improved planning, accountability and decision-making across different areas of the public sector.
ACCA’s global expertise was also discussed in the context of Pakistan’s broader economic and institutional development objectives. The organisation has indicated its interest in contributing to initiatives that support sustainable growth and long-term prosperity, including opportunities linked to professional services, sustainable business and trade.
The ACCA Pakistan leadership team also held a separate meeting with Zainab Mahmood, Deputy Country Director at the British High Commission in Pakistan. The engagement provided an opportunity to discuss areas where ACCA’s international expertise could be connected with efforts supporting sustainable economic development and institutional progress in Pakistan.
The discussions with both government and diplomatic representatives reflect a broader focus on strengthening professional capabilities and institutional capacity. Public finance professionals play an important role in areas including financial planning, resource management, policy implementation and oversight, making their continued professional development relevant to the effectiveness of public institutions.
The meetings also covered potential opportunities across professional services, sustainable business and trade. These areas can contribute to Pakistan’s longer-term economic development by strengthening institutional frameworks, supporting businesses and improving the professional capabilities required to operate within an increasingly interconnected economy.
The engagement brought together representatives from ACCA, the Ministry of Finance and the British High Commission, creating a platform for discussions around professional skills, public finance and institutional development. ACCA’s participation reflects its interest in applying its global professional expertise to initiatives that can support capacity building and sustainable economic progress in Pakistan.
