NIBAF Pakistan has announced a three-day professional training programme on Shariah Audit, Review, & Integrated Assurance, with a focus on the practical application of audit, governance, risk and compliance practices through technology-enabled approaches. The programme is scheduled to take place from November 17 to 19, 2026, at the NIBAF Pakistan Karachi Campus.
The training will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day and is aimed at professionals working across internal audit, Shariah audit and review, risk and compliance, Shariah governance and Islamic financial institutions. The training fee has been set at PKR 54,000 plus applicable tax per participant. NIBAF Pakistan has set November 13, 2026, as the last date for nominations.
The programme will bring together facilitators with experience in technology governance, information security, Shariah compliance, Islamic finance and audit. One of the facilitators is Hussein Hassanali, a Technology Governance, Risk and Compliance and Information Security professional with more than 30 years of international experience across Pakistan, the United Kingdom and the Middle East. His areas of expertise include technology audit, information security, data privacy, IT governance, risk management and compliance. He has held senior positions at HBL, Bank AL Habib, Ernst & Young and Aga Khan University and holds professional certifications including CIA, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT and CDPSE.
Mufti Najeeb Ahmed Khan will also facilitate the programme. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Muawin, The Facilitator Shariah Advisors (Pvt.) Ltd., and serves on the Shariah Boards of several Islamic financial institutions, including Faysal Bank, Bank Makramah, UBL Funds and Habib Metropolitan Bank. According to the programme information, he has trained more than 10,000 professionals in areas including Shariah compliance, Islamic finance, audit, governance and Halal certification. He holds Takhassus fil Fiqh from Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi and an M.Phil. from the University of Karachi.
Muhammad Zia Akhtar is another facilitator listed for the programme. He is currently serving as Divisional Head Shariah Audit at UBL and has previously worked as a Shariah Audit Consultant and in Shariah audit leadership roles for branches. He is also identified as a co-founder of Ethical Will and has provided consultancy and advisory services to domestic and international institutions.
The programme will also feature Muhammad Adnan Kayani, an Islamic banking and Shariah audit professional with banking experience at Faysal Bank and more than 16 years of teaching experience in Shariah, Fiqh and Islamic finance. He currently serves as Team Lead at Faysal Bank and holds the Certified Shariah Advisor & Auditor (CSAA-AAOIFI) qualification. His professional training experience includes programmes conducted at institutions such as Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre and SZABIST.
NIBAF Pakistan has designed the training for professionals who are involved in reviewing Shariah compliance, managing internal controls, assessing risks and supporting governance frameworks within Islamic financial institutions. The programme’s focus on integrated assurance and artificial intelligence-enabled approaches is intended to connect conventional audit and assurance practices with emerging technology applications.
