easypaisa digital bank has partnered with global smartphone manufacturer Transsion to expand access to digital financial services in Pakistan by integrating the easypaisa application into millions of new smartphones. Under the strategic partnership, the easypaisa app will be pre-installed on more than five million smartphones sold through Transsion’s leading brands in Pakistan, including Infinix, TECNO and itel. The initiative is designed to give consumers direct access to digital banking and financial services from the point they activate their new devices, reducing the steps required to discover and begin using formal financial services.
The partnership comes as smartphone and mobile internet adoption continues to increase across Pakistan. According to the companies, 3G and 4G device uptake has reached 71.6%, creating a larger potential user base for digital financial services. easypaisa and Transsion intend to use this growing smartphone footprint to address barriers that have historically limited access to formal banking, particularly among underserved and unbanked communities. For consumers using smartphones and mobile internet for the first time, having a digital financial services application already available on the device could provide a more direct route to banking and other financial products.
The agreement was formally signed in Islamabad by Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer at easypaisa digital bank, and Michael Wang, Vice President Global Partnerships at Transsion. Senior representatives from both organizations attended the signing ceremony. Farhan Hassan said the partnership supports easypaisa’s objective of simplifying access to financial services and extending its reach across Pakistan. He said integrating financial services directly into smartphones can remove some of the barriers faced by consumers and help bring more people into the formal financial system. According to Hassan, the collaboration is intended to connect financial access with the point at which consumers begin their digital journey.
Muhammad Abdul Qadeer, Country Manager at Transsion Pakistan, said the partnership combines technology, scale and local market knowledge to create digital experiences for consumers. He noted that millions of Pakistani consumers use smartphones sold through Transsion’s brands, creating an opportunity to make access to digital financial services part of the smartphone experience. The integration of easypaisa into devices from Infinix, TECNO and itel is therefore positioned as an ecosystem initiative that connects smartphone adoption with wider participation in digital finance.
The collaboration is also expected to support customer acquisition and increase the penetration and usage of the easypaisa application. By combining Transsion’s smartphone distribution network with easypaisa’s range of digital banking products and services, the two companies aim to encourage greater engagement with formal financial services. The approach reflects a broader shift in which technology companies, smartphone manufacturers and financial service providers are working together to reach consumers through digital platforms rather than relying only on traditional banking channels.
easypaisa has continued to expand its digital banking ecosystem through partnerships aimed at making financial services more accessible and easier to use. The company describes itself as Pakistan’s first digital bank to commence commercial operations and says the smartphone pre-installation initiative forms part of its broader effort to reach underserved communities. The company also aims to provide consumers with access to financial products and services through digital channels while supporting wider adoption of formal financial services.
With more than 60 million registered users, easypaisa has established a large existing customer base in Pakistan while continuing to target consumers who remain unbanked or underbanked. The company said its expansion remains aligned with the State Bank of Pakistan’s vision of promoting inclusive economic growth. Through the partnership with Transsion, easypaisa will have its application placed directly on more than five million additional smartphones, giving new device users an immediate pathway to explore digital banking and potentially increasing participation in Pakistan’s formal financial ecosystem.
