JazzCash, a subsidiary of VEON Ltd, has been named a finalist in two categories at The Money Awards 2026, recognising its work in digital government welfare disbursements and health insurance services for Pakistan’s informal workforce. The digital financial services platform has been shortlisted in the Strategic Alliance & Partnership category for its role in digitising government welfare payments and in the Banking (InsurTech) category for expanding access to health insurance. Winners are scheduled to be announced onsite at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas on October 18, 2026.
Murtaza Ali, CEO of JazzCash, said the recognition reflects the company’s focus on expanding access to financial services and protection. He highlighted examples including women receiving government stipends through digital channels and daily wage workers gaining access to health coverage. According to JazzCash, its partnerships with government institutions and insurers are being used to extend financial and protection services to people who may have limited access to conventional financial channels.
The Strategic Alliance & Partnership nomination recognises JazzCash’s role as a disbursement partner for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Pakistan’s largest social safety net. Through direct wallet transfers, JazzCash has delivered PKR 20 billion to 1.48 million BISP beneficiaries. The company said this forms part of a broader programme through which its government and institutional partnerships have disbursed more than PKR 100 billion to over 3 million beneficiaries during 2026.
The government and institutional disbursements supported through JazzCash partnerships have covered multiple types of welfare and assistance programmes. These include Punjab’s Rahmat Card, the Balochistan Rural Support Program, disaster relief initiatives and federal and provincial subsidy programmes. The platform has also facilitated stipends for World Health Organization polio workers and the United Nations World Food Programme, expanding the range of institutional payments delivered through its digital financial infrastructure.
JazzCash’s second nomination at The Money Awards 2026 relates to Sehat+, its health-protection platform. The company partnered with licensed insurers to use its mobile application, digital wallet and nationwide agent network as a distribution channel for insurance products. According to the company, Sehat+ offers health protection products starting from PKR 3 per day, with the service designed to reach customers who may otherwise have limited access to formal insurance products.
The Sehat+ platform currently serves 2.38 million active unique insurance customers and has issued 27.7 million policies to date, according to JazzCash. The company has also expanded its insurance offering through InsureNow, a dedicated platform covering additional areas including travel, vehicle, home and mobile-device insurance. The expansion gives JazzCash a wider role in distributing insurance products through its existing digital and agent-based financial services network.
The latest international recognition adds to JazzCash’s previous awards and industry acknowledgements. The company was named among CNBC and Statista’s World’s Top Fintech Companies 2026 in the Payments category. It also received Mastercard’s Pioneering Telco to Launch Tap on Phone award at Edge 2024 in Dubai, while in 2017 it received the GSMA GLOMO Award for Best Mobile Product, Application, or Service for Women in Emerging Markets.
The Money Awards nominations place JazzCash’s government payment and insurance initiatives among the programmes being considered by the international financial services industry in 2026. The final results will be announced at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas on October 18, where the company will compete in the two categories for which it has been shortlisted.
